YouTube has recently announced the testing of a new feature called ‘Hype’, which aims to provide more community support to small content creators. This feature, currently available in select regions, will allow content creators who meet certain criteria to participate in this new program.
The ‘Hype’ feature enables viewers in Brazil, Turkey, and Taiwan to ‘Hype’ a video, in addition to liking it. This action will boost the video’s rankings among others published in the last seven days. According to YouTube, the more hyped a video is, the higher it will be ranked, giving creators a better chance to reach a wider audience.
However, there is a catch to this new program. Only YouTube Partner Program creators with less than 500,000 subscribers are eligible to participate. Additionally, all videos must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines to qualify for the ‘Hype’ program. This initiative is still in the test phase, leaving its potential future expansion uncertain.
YouTube already offers various support options for content creators, such as Super Chat and Super Stickers, which allow creators to earn extra income beyond ad revenue. With the addition of the ‘Hype’ feature, small content creators have more opportunities to connect with their audience and grow their channels.
On June 17th, YouTube also announced another new feature aimed at enhancing the user experience. Users in the US now have the ability to post comments below videos to provide additional context. This experimental feature, available in English, allows users to add notes below the video to give viewers more information.
