Understanding the Paint Peeling Issue on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 was recently announced at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event, boasting an impressive array of features such as a 7.6-inch primary display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, and a 4,400mAh battery. However, some users have started reporting an unusual issue with the device – paint peeling off the body of the foldable phone.

The Paint Peeling Problem

Reports from Reddit users show small sections of paint coming off the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, particularly near the power button and the rear panel’s top left corner. Samsung has addressed this issue on an official support page, attributing it to the use of “incompatible third-party products,” specifically high-speed third-party chargers.

According to Samsung, the paint peeling might be caused by current leakage from certain chargers, affecting the anodisation of the phone’s body and resulting in the delamination of the paint. The use of electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) massagers near the device is also identified as a potential cause for the paint peeling.

Samsung advises users to keep the phone away from their body when using EMS products. The company suggests using authentic Samsung chargers designed for specific Samsung devices to avoid potential issues. Notably, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not come with a charger in the box, but users can purchase a 25W adaptor and USB Type-C cable separately.

In India, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is available in three colour options – Navy, Pink, and Silver Shadow. The device starts at Rs. 1,64,999 for the base model (12GB + 256GB) with higher storage variants priced at Rs. 1,76,999 and Rs. 2,00,999. Customers can purchase the phone through the official Samsung website, online retailers, and offline stores.

The paint peeling issue on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 raises concerns about the device’s overall build quality and compatibility with third-party accessories. Users are advised to follow Samsung’s recommendations to avoid potential damage to their devices and ensure a seamless experience with the foldable phone.
