ChatGPT has recently introduced a new feature that allows all users, including the free tier users, to experience AI image generation using OpenAI’s Dall-E 3 model. This update comes as a significant development, as previously only ChatGPT Plus subscribers had access to this advanced image generation technology.
Free tier users can now generate up to two images per day using the chatbot, marking the first time that an image generation model by OpenAI is available to non-subscribers. Despite this exciting opportunity, the daily limit for free tier users has been set at two images. However, there is no compromise on the quality of images that can be generated or the complexity of the prompts that can be used.
Users can access the image generation feature on both the web interface of the AI chatbot and on the Android and iOS apps. Even if the daily limit for using the GPT-4o AI model has been reached, users can still create images seamlessly. On the web interface, users have the option to navigate to the Dall-E interface using the side panel on the ChatGPT website or directly utilize ChatGPT for image generation.
To generate images using the Dall-E 3 interface, users are required to input a detailed prompt that includes information about the angle, lighting, prompt adherence, camera, and other relevant details to achieve the desired output. Alternatively, users who prefer a more simplified process can provide a general prompt on ChatGPT, and the AI will automatically generate a detailed prompt on their behalf to create the image.
While this new image generation feature is a significant step towards democratizing AI technology, it is important to note that the image editing feature, which was initially introduced for ChatGPT Plus users in April, is not available for free users. This limitation may impact the customization and editing capabilities of the images generated by free tier users.
The expansion of AI image generation capabilities to all ChatGPT users, including free tier users, represents a notable advancement in making cutting-edge technology more accessible to a wider audience. As more users explore and utilize this feature, the possibilities for creative expression and innovation using AI continue to expand.
