The highly-anticipated movie adaptation of Borderlands, directed by Eli Roth and starring an ensemble cast including Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart, is set to hit theaters on August 9th via Lionsgate. While the stars and filmmaker are not scheduled to attend the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Borderlands through an exclusive interactive experience.
For fans attending Comic-Con, the Gas Lamp district will host a unique activation transforming 207 Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel into Moxxi’s Bar, the infamous watering hole from the video game. This experience, taking place from July 25th to 27th, will feature live sets by DJ Claptrap, Borderlands-themed cocktails curated by Ballantine’s Scotch whisky, and opportunities to play slots for a chance to win Borderlands film merchandise. While walk-ins are welcome, fans can RSVP for timed entry tickets on FeverUp.
Ballantine’s Scotch whisky has a long-term partnership with Borderlands, which started in 2022 with the appointment of bar mogul Mad Moxxi as Chief Galactic Expansion Officer (CGEO). Moxxi collaborated with Ballantine’s to create a limited-edition Borderlands x Ballantine’s bottle of Scotch whisky, known as the Ballantine’s x Moxxi’s Bar Edition. This unique collaboration will be featured at Moxxi’s Bar during Comic-Con, offering fans a taste of the world of Borderlands.
For those traveling through Albuquerque on their way to San Diego, the Mountain Dew Borderlands Motel at the Monterey Motel presents another immersive experience. Co-sponsored by Mountain Dew and Regal Cinemas, this event on July 22nd will transport fans to the dystopian planet of Pandora. The experience is open to fans aged 18+ and 21+ for drinking, providing an opportunity to engage with the Borderlands universe in a unique setting.
In addition to the interactive experiences at Comic-Con and the Borderlands Motel, Regal Cinemas is hosting the Ultimate Borderlands Road Trip across the country. Fans can join the journey, with refueling stops in cities like Knoxville, Atlanta, and Las Vegas, all leading to the final destination of San Diego Comic-Con. This road trip offers fans the chance to connect with other Borderlands enthusiasts and engage with the franchise in various locations.
The Borderlands movie is not just a film; it’s an immersive experience that allows fans to step into the world of Pandora and interact with the characters and locations they love. Whether at Comic-Con, Moxxi’s Bar, the Borderlands Motel, or the Ultimate Road Trip, fans have the opportunity to become part of the Borderlands universe in exciting and engaging ways.
