The Link Between Gut Microbiome and Autism: A Comprehensive Study

Recent research has shed light on the connection between gut microbiome and autism. This study, led by researchers from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, delves deeper into the matter by exploring not only bacteria but also fungi, archaea, and viruses that reside in the digestive tract. The team of researchers analyzed fecal samples from 1,627 children, both with and without autism, to study the entire gut microbiome composition. By inputting this data into a machine learning algorithm, they were able to achieve a diagnostic accuracy rate of 79.5 to 88.6 percent when combining all the different kingdoms of microbes.
